Consob short sales: Restrictive measures extended

Default: Change to:

Consob has evaluated the restrictive measures concerning net short positions on financial securities adopted in August 2011 and the evolution of market conditions. This took place in collaboration with the authorities of the other countries which adopted similar measures.

Following these evaluations and on the basis of current market conditions, Consob has decided to extend the validity of the restrictive provision on short sales/short selling/bear transactions adopted on 12 August and subsequently extended to 30 September, to 11 November 2011.

Consob has also decided to extend the disclosure obligations on significant bear positions, introduced on 10 July, to 25 November 2011. The Commission will continue to work in coordination with the other authorities with regards to any change in the current market conditions, which may require regulatory intervention, including any revocation of the restrictions imposed.
