Commenting on the Green Paper on capital markets union published by the European Commission, Simon Lewis, Chief Executive of the Association for Financial Markets in Europe (AFME), said: “We welcome this consultation. Capital markets union is an essential reform project to revive the EU economy, and the financial industry can and will make an important contribution. We welcome the early policy priorities identified by Commissioner Hill, particularly the emphasis on securitisation and the Prospectus Directive, and we look forward to the Commission defining and pursuing a clear set of economic goals to drive CMU for the next 5 years.”
