EPC: Publication of the SEPA Proxy Lookup (SPL) scheme rulebook

20 December 2018

The EPC has published the first version of the SEPA Proxy Lookup (SPL) scheme rulebook which consists of a set of rules, practices and standards that makes it possible to operate, join and participate in the SPL scheme.

The SPL scheme covers the exchange of the data necessary to initiate payments between proxy-based payment solutions on a pan-European level. It aims to facilitate interoperability between participating payment solutions and is limited to a look-up function with the sole purpose of initiating a payment.

The actual payment is however not part of the scheme and is covered by an ‘overseen’ payment scheme within the SEPA geographic area.

This first version of the SPL scheme rulebook is based on the SPL rules and SPL Application Programming Interface (API) specification as defined by the Mobile Proxy Forum (MPF).

EquensWorldline was appointed by the MPF in March 2018 as the preferred  service provider following a Request for Proposal procedure launched in December 2017. Parties interested in participating in the SPL service are kindly invited to contact Mr Henrik Hodam.
