Hungary repays early its outstanding obligations to the IMF

12 August 2013

Hungary repaid, ahead of schedule, obligations to the IMF amounting to $2.85 billion.

This repayment completes the repayment of $11.6 billion which Hungary had borrowed from the IMF during 2008/09 under its Stand-By Arrangement, approved by the IMP in November 2008. The amounts repaid early are obligations falling due in 2013 and 2014 under the original repayment schedule.
