AGB warns of the consequences of a debate on the UK leaving the EU

23 January 2013

The Association of German Banks provided a short statement towards a debate on the UK leaving the EU.

“The debate about the UK leaving the EU is a dangerous game with fire. Only a united Europe can be a strong Europe on the international stage – politically and economically. The UK’s possible exit from the EU risks jeopardising the achievements of the European internal market. Given the importance of London as a financial centre, this applies above all to the financial sector. There could be implications for regulation which needs to be implemented as consistently as possible globally if it is to be effective.”
