Polish government submits EU fiscal pact for ratification

The Polish Prime Minister, Donald Tusk, said that Poland's cabinet had discussed the EU fiscal pact during its Tuesday sitting, and had decided to send the document for ratification.

"The main point of today's sitting was to send the so-called fiscal pact for ratification by the President via Sejm", Tusk said, adding that none of his ministers "had any doubt" about the necessity of ratification of the pact by Poland.

Last week, PM Donald Tusk said the pact would be adopted this week and sent to the Parliament for ratification. Tusk said that Poland needs to adopt the document if it wants to be able to participate in discussions about the future shape of the eurozone already, without being a eurozone member.
