The following statistics complement the City Statistics briefing,
providing more detail on changes and trends in the City’s workforce,
economy, and role as a financial and professional services hub.
Financial
and professional services produced £200bn in economic output,
contributed nearly £100bn in taxes, exported over £120bn and generated
nearly £1bn in FDI for the UK economy.

The
City drives the economy, generating nearly £70bn in economic output
annually. The City accounts for one in every five financial services
jobs in GB. The City also contributes to the wider economy, generating
£1.2bn in business rates.

are 550,000 workers in the City of London, or 1 in every 56 GB workers.
