CEIOPS protocol on mediation mechanism between Insurance and Pensions Supervisors

CEIOPS publishes today its Protocol on Mediation Mechanism between Insurance and Pensions Supervisors, aiming at improving cooperation and convergence amongst CEIOPS Members and non-CEIOPS national Authorities competent under the relevant sectoral directives.

Potential areas where mediation could be useful to solve tensions or disputes include, for instance:

- Processes for consultation between competent Authorities

- Processes of exchange of information

- Processes for joint agreement or decision-taking among competent authorities

- Conflicts raised under relevant CEIOPS Protocols, where stipulated in those Protocols or as a last resort and under respect of the resolution mechanisms provided for in the Protocols; and

- Other potential general cases relating to cooperation between competent authorities under the relevant sectoral Directives, Regulations or Commission’s Recommendations or CEIOPS Standards, Guidelines and Recommendations.
