Payments Council: Latest Current Account Switch Service figures published

In the 12-month period from 1 April 2014 to 31 March 2015 there were 1.14 million switches, up from 1.06 million switches for the same period last year. The UK's biggest banks have lost some customers following a change to the switching system, BBC reported.

By the end of March 2015 more than seven out of ten (71%) people in the UK were aware of the Current Account Switch Service – which is up from 58% in the month it was launched (September 2013). Customer confidence in the new service has also increased, up from 56% to 62% over the same time period. Since launch, there have been more than 1.75 million switches.

Full details are available in the latest edition of the Current Account Switch Service Dashboard (no.6), downloadable here, along with the latest participant movement data for Q3 2014 (also reproduced in ‘notes to editors’ below).  Information for customers on the new service and links to participating banks and building societies are available at www.simplerworld.co.uk.
