The
ECB held a Tri-party meeting with presentatives of market participants and Market Infrastructures on TARGET2-Securities in Frankfurt/M. on 18-19 December 2006 presenting the functional architecture of the planned system. The users’ connectivity options as well as settlement of the cross-CSDs transactions are also covered.
“T2S is not about the expansion of central bank operations. It is about integrating the capital markets in Europe”, Mrs. Tumpel-Gugerell said on the Dinner speech. “If anything, T2S will increase the possibilities for choice and competition. Participants will be able to choose among many CSDs to access a common settlement engine.”
