European Payments Council publishes new mobile wallet payments White Paper and invites comments by 30 September, 2013

EPC, working together with all stakeholders active in the mobile payments ecosystem, is willing to contribute to the development of a reliable and secure ecosystem for the initiation and receipt of SEPA payments by mobile phone. Deadline for comments on the White Paper is 30 September, 2013.

The intention is to help establish an ecosystem, which could enable all payers and payees to make and receive mobile payments (m-payments) across SEPA, and create a secure environment for the multiple stakeholders active in the field. Considering that adoption of the mobile wallet is likely to trigger increased use of m-payments, the EPC offers a new white paper on mobile wallet payments which was released on 2 July, 2013.

The EPC welcomes all interested stakeholders’ input on the information presented in this white paper. In order to ensure broad stakeholder involvement in the EPC’s descriptive work on the usage of mobile wallets for payments, the mobile wallet payments white paper is therefore available for stakeholder review during a three-month period. All interested parties are encouraged to download and complete the dedicated feedback questionnaire. The document offers the opportunity to provide input on the overall white paper as well as on each section and recommendations for improvements. Respondents are invited to email the completed feedback questionnaire by 30 September, 2013.

An updated version of the mobile wallet payments white paper will be issued based on the feedback received.
