CEIOPS held its first 2007 Members' Meeting in Frankfurt addressing a number of organisational issues, including the election of Thomas Steffen as the new Chair of CEIOPS. On the Solvency II project the meeting approved a number of Advices for submission to the Commission. The Advices cover features of the future Solvency II prudential regime for insurance and reinsurance undertakings. CEIOPS also approved its technical specifications and spreadsheet for its QIS3 to be launched on 1 April 2007.
In the field of occupational pensions, the meeting approved a Report on Market Development for publication. The Report gives an overview of cross-border activities of Institutions for Occupational Retirement Provision (IORPs) and is the first of intended regular updates.
For the area of insurance intermediaries, a Report on implementation of the Insurance Mediation Directive was approved for submission to the Commission and publication. It provides an indication of how the key issues of the Directive have been implemented in Member States, and identifies areas where further efforts are needed.
