ACCA roundtable: 'Reflections on the Mortgage Directive: Specialised Credit Markets – Specialised Regulation'

The Responsible Lending and Borrowing Directive, commonly referred to as the Mortgage Directive, has been released by the European Commission and is now to be considered in the European Parliament and European Council.

Following the financial and economic crisis, the European Commission has tackled numerous aspects of financial policy in order to try to regulate against any future economic crashes.

Having addressed financial governance and market regulation, the Commission has now turned its attention to another sector that arguably played a significant role in the economic crisis – mortgages. The Responsible Lending and Borrowing Directive, commonly referred to as the Mortgage Directive, has been released by the European Commission and is now to be considered in the European Parliament and European Council.

According to the Commission, the aim of this Directive is to increase consumer protection through the provision of more and clearer information, as well as increasing the regulation of the activities of credit intermediaries.

ACCA (The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) is therefore delighted to invite you to a roundtable entitled "Reflections on the Mortgage Directive: Specialised Credit Markets – Specialised Regulation"

This event will examine the key details of the Directive and provide insight from political, industry and civil society actors as to what is needed in this highly specialised financial sector. The event will also touch on how the new Directive will impact SMEs, and what SMEs require from such a new Directive.
