The Committee of European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Supervisors (CEIOPS) issued a Draft Protocol relating to the cooperation of the competent EU and EEA authorities regarding the implementation of the Insurance Mediation Directive.
CEIOPS determined rules of practical cooperation between the national authorities in order to facilitate the supervision of intermediaries doing cross-border business.
To ensure consistency and efficiency regarding the registration of the intermediaries and the protection of the consumers, CEIOPS set down cooperation rules with regard to the harmonisation of the documents, the mutual exchange of non-financial information and the ongoing supervision of the professional requirements (good repute, competence and professional experience). Some provisions concerning the treatment of complaints are also included in this Protocol.
