CEBS publishes guidelines on supervisory disclosure

The Committee of European Banking Supervisors (CEBS) publishes its guidelines for supervisory authorities on increased transparency and public disclosure to promote the legitimacy and credibility of supervisors from the perspective of the institutions that they supervise. The framework will make it easier to compare national texts that implement the Capital Requirements Directive (CRD), and to compare the ways in which Member States exercise the options and national discretions available to them in the CRD.

In addition, the framework will enable institutions to compare the criteria and methodologies that supervisors use in evaluating and reviewing them. Finally, it will provide aggregate statistical data on key aspects of the implementation of the CRD.

The framework will allow easy access to qualitative information on the laws and rules adopted at the national level and on the ways in which Member States have exercised the options and national discretions, as well as to statistical data on the implementation of the Directive. Overview tables in CEBS’ website will allow to have an overall perspective, embracing the whole Single Market.
