Commission acts to ensure Member States implement Capital Requirements Directive

31 January 2008

The European Commission has acted to ensure that the Capital Requirement Directives are implemented in Hungary and Spain. The Commission has decided to send reasoned opinions to Hungary for incomplete transposition of the CRD. Although Hungary has adopted the main measures necessary to transpose the Directives, some implementing measures are still missing.

The Commission has also decided to refer Spain to the European Court of Justice because it has not transposed the CRD. Only a partial transposition of Directive 2006/49/EC has been notified to the Commission.

The Capital Requirement Directives were to be transposed by 31 December 2006.
