TAZ: London's loss is Frankfurt's gain

30 November 2017

TAZ reflects on how citizens and financial experts in the German banking capital perceive the future impact of Brexit on the city.

With many in Frankfurt acting like they were part of a a sudden gold rush, TAZ writes how the city seems to be in a state of manic depression, which is fed every week by new future analyses. With 10,000 additional bankers expected, experts reckon that around 20,000 new jobs in finance will be created, leading to even more jobs in the service sector. However, not all financial experts trusts these numbers and citizens are concerned that housing prices will skyrocket with the arrival of new banks and that Frankfurt will become as unaffordable as London is now.
