Insurance Europe: Response provided to POG and IBIPs consultation

Insurance Europe has responded to a public consultation through the European Commission's Better Regulation portal on the draft delegated acts (DAs) on product oversight and governance (POG) and insurance-based investment products (IBIPs).

While broadly welcoming the Commission’s improvements to the DAs when compared to the proposals made in the European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority’s technical advice, Insurance Europe said further changes should be considered.

These include changes in regards to:

• proportionality,
• basic principles in insurance and
• specifically in POG, sales outside of the target market.
