EAPB response on BIS consultation on principles for home-host supervisory cooperation

18 April 2007

The EAPB issued a response on the BIS consultation on principles for home-host supervisory cooperation in the context of AMA. Although most EU banking groups tend to use the AMA on a consolidated basis only, the importance of the hybrid approach is likely to significantly increase in the future, EAPB states. Therefore, the possibility to adapt a hybrid approach should be extended to the Basel framework and should be made available on a reciprocal basis with non-EU regulators.

With regard to the sharing of information EAPB thinks that the final responsibility for an effective exchange of information should remain with the supervisory authorities. Overlapping information requirements to home and host supervisors should be avoided.
