CEPS and ECMI launch a joint Task Force on “Rebranding the Capital Markets Union”

The new Task Force will be presided by Mr Vítor Constâncio, former ECB Vice President and current President of the Council of the Lisbon School of Economics & Management.


Focusing on the achievements and failings so far of the CMU - with its 3 building blocks, 7 key areas of priority and 42 policy actions, the Task Force will examine what it will take inject further momentum into the project, such as through rebranding, refocusing, and stronger political support.
 
The Task Force will also engage with a diverse group of stakeholders to identify the priorities for the next European Commission and Parliament, specifically on these three main areas:

  • Taking stock of what has been achieved so far since the adoption of the CMU Action Plan in September 2015;  
  • Identifying the areas to which priority should be given by the next Commission;
  • Putting forward a list of concrete policy recommendations and actions where quick progress can be achieved.

The rapporteurs of the Task Force are Karel Lannoo, CEO, CEPS and Apostolos Thomadakis, Researcher, ECMI.
